“We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world” is a prayer written by St. Francis of Assisi. The prayer is often shortened to “We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world”. The prayer goes on to say, “Father, give us the courage to hear your will and to obey it as your Son did on our behalf”. There is also a song called “We Adore You, Lord Jesus Christ” by Taizรฉ from the album Joy on Earth.
“Contemplate Me, O My beloved, being led away as a meek lamb to the shameful and terrible punishment of the scourging.
Blow after blow is discharged by the executioners on My body, already covered with bruises and broken with fatigueโฆ
With whips and knotted cords they strike Me with such violence that My very bones are shaken and I am torn with innumberable woundsโฆbits of My divine flesh are rent off by the scourgesโฆblood flows from every limb, and I am reduced to such a state of pitiable disfigurement as no longer to resemble a human beingโฆ.
See My wounds! Who has suffered for love of you as I have?”
