The Thief: The Fullness of Salvation and Forgiveness in Yeshua

In the final moments of his earthly existence, a thief hung on a cross alongside Yeshua, the very embodiment of grace and mercy. His life had not been one of service to God, and yet, in his dying breaths, he turned to Yeshua, and with a humble heart, he said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.” (Luke 23:42.) Yeshua replied to him saying, “Verily I say unto you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43).

This poignant encounter serves as a powerful reminder of the boundless grace and mercy that flows from the heart of the Savior. The thief on the cross, in his last moments, found eternal life with Yeshua, a life free from condemnation. It’s a testament to the incredible love and forgiveness that Yeshua extends to all who seek Him, regardless of their past.

The thief did not accumulate a lifetime of good deeds or religious accomplishments. He did not have the opportunity to serve God in the conventional sense. Yet, in that pivotal moment, he recognized the divinity of the man hanging beside him and placed his trust in Him. This encounter stands as a profound illustration that it is never too late to turn to Yeshua and receive His gift of salvation. It unveils a truth that resonates, that the mercy of God knows no bounds and that redemption is available to anyone who earnestly seeks it.

In our own lives, we may find ourselves at different stages, grappling with our shortcomings and the weight of our mistakes. The story of the thief invites us to recognize that, like him, we can experience the transformative power of Yeshua’s love and grace, even when we seek Him in our final moments.

No Condemnation

The Scriptures affirm this truth in Romans 8:1, declaring, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Yeshua.” These words offer solace and reassurance, emphasizing that the sacrifice of Yeshua has paved the way for freedom from guilt and shame. As the redeemed, we are set free by the Son, and this freedom is not subject to the judgments of others or the accusations of the Adversary.

Once Yeshua has pardoned your sins and you have become a new person in Him, stand firm in the face of condemnation, whether it comes from within or without. The grace that saved the thief on the cross is the same grace that saves us today. It is unmerited, unearned, and boundless. Therefore, let no one condemn you, and do not allow Satan to discourage your walk and faith in the Lord.

As you journey through life, remember the thief on the cross and the promise of Yeshua “Who the Son sets free is free indeed.” (John 8:36). Embrace the freedom that comes from knowing Him and live in the joy of redemption, for in Yeshua, we truly are set free by His grace.
